Bivouac Camping - under the stars
Bivouac Camping – Under the Stars
Experience the most authentic way to sleep in Wadi Rum — under the vast desert sky, beside a campfire, with nothing between you and the stars.
This free camping experience is typically part of one of our longer multi-day hiking tours, but we also offer it as a private overnight option for those seeking a deeper connection with the desert.
The Experience
You’ll camp in a remote wilderness area of Wadi Rum, far from tourist camps. The location is chosen depending on the season, weather conditions, and the tour you’re taking. For an overview of available hikes, visit our Wadi Rum 2-Day Hiking Tours or Full-Day Hiking Tours.
Your guide will prepare everything for the night:
A warm Bedouin dinner cooked on the fire
A simple sleeping setup with mattresses and blankets
Bottled drinking water
Jerry cans for hand and face washing
You’ll spend the evening around the fire, hearing stories, sipping tea, and falling asleep under the silence of the stars.

Please Note
There are no bathrooms in the bivouac area — this is wild, open nature
Please bury waste and burn or remove any paper used
We do not provide toilet paper, towels, or sheets
Help us protect the desert by leaving no trace
If you prefer some comfort and still want to sleep outdoors, consider our Ali Bedouin Camp which allows outdoor sleeping in the camp area.
